Sandra Barela, LMFT

sandra.jpeg

Sandra works with children, teens, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting challenges, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. She especially enjoys supporting young mothers and families who may be balancing parenting, relationships, identity, and the many emotions that can come with significant life changes.

Sandra also works with individuals who have experienced traumatic events or been victims of crime. She understands that difficult or frightening experiences can affect how someone sees themselves, their relationships, and the world around them. She provides a safe space where clients can process their experiences, rebuild a sense of safety, and begin to feel more like themselves again.

As a Spanish-speaking therapist, Sandra values culturally responsive care and understands the importance of feeling seen and understood in the therapeutic process. She strives to create a welcoming environment where individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and communities of color feel respected, valued, and comfortable being themselves.

My Clinical Approach

My approach is integrative, relational, and culturally responsive. I draw from evidence-based modalities including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Trauma Focused CBT

  • Interpersonal Therapy

  • Child-Parent Psychotherapy

Who I Work With

  • Couples

  • Individuals

  • Adolescents

Why I Do This Work

Sandra believes therapy should be collaborative rather than simply telling clients what to do. She works alongside each person to understand their unique experiences, identify their needs, and develop practical tools that fit their everyday lives.

A Note on Fit

Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. If you’re considering working together, I encourage you to reach out for a brief consultation so we can determine whether this feels like the right fit for your needs and goals.
